Rossini's classically lighthearted tale of romance and false identity is an operatic standard. Barber of Seville's music is so prevalent that without even seeing it performed live or in its staged form, you've encountered the libretto through untold doses of pop culture parody.
Barney Rubble belted it in the bath. Spongebob stole Squidward's thunder by singing it underwater. And most famously, Bugs gnawed his way through several rounds of "Figaro! Figaro! Figaro!" in the toon classic, "Rabbit of Seville."
The Dallas Opera has announced another completely free simulcast -- this time, of Rossini's masterwork, The Barber of Seville.
The 2014 edition happens on Friday, April 11, at the Dallas Cowboys AT&T Stadium. Making the day even more animated is a pre-show screening of "Rabbit of Seville" at 7 p.m., with the Winspear livefeed beginning at 7:30 p.m. RSVP here for free tickets and parking.
