Suddenly, from nowhere, roughly ten young ladies descended the august staircase dressed, from head to toe, in all white and chanting. Look, no hatin,' but that was "informative" enough for me.
However, this Saturday night, folks are bringing back the all-white look, and I can really get behind it this time. Green Bandana Group presents V I S U A L U Z, which is a lot of oddly-spaced all caps that spells "open bar" and "cutting edge art." Falling somewhere between a gallery opening and a rave (you know, sans the obligatory E), the idea is that party-goers will dress in all white, and lights projected on them will create a "human canvas."
So, what separates this from rote glow sticks and tube tops? Well, for one, the fact that theSpace is being transformed into a 6,200 sq ft art installation, which, according to the press release, will deal with the ideas of "light" and "cosmic futurism." Projects include:
Jason Presley Marsh -light sculpture & projection mappingEvita Cortez and Darius Goodson - light painting
Eric Trich - augmented reality installation
Gina Cervantes - light body painting
Jordan Scott Castilleja - sound sculpture installation
And, we hear there's a "face off" between DJ crews Track Meet and Hot Flash. We don't know exactly what a DJ-off entails, but please, please let it inspire some of this on the dance floor:
So, you might be thinking, "What the hell should I wear?" How about this:
Or this,
But not this:
Nah.
Yes to this.
This?
