A couple of things you'll likely need for the non-stop improv Megaphone Marathon at the Dallas Comedy House on Saturday: a brain full of suggestions and some sort of cheek cream to soothe your laugh-aching face bones.
It's going to be a shotgun blast of good comedy: 19 acts from Dallas (including locals Roadside Couch, Manick, and Local Honey), Austin and New Orleans will perform non-stop, 20-minute sets of improv from 8 p.m. to 1:45 a.m. Seriously, you're going to need a change of shorts for this.
The whole night is immediately followed by an award ceremony, so don't stumble in at 1:46 a.m. screaming "hey dudes, where's the funny?" to the nice folks at the DCH.
This is year two of the Megaphone Marathons, put on by The New Movement (a comedy conservatory founded in Austin). The roving event just recently hit New Orleans and Houston, and was a huge and fun success, says Clay Barton of the DCH. It's headed to Austin June 17 for another back-to-back-improv-a-thon.
