Cuban Dulceria International Bakery

Rita and Sara Vasquez, the owners of International Bakery Cuban Dulcería in Carrollton, are well-known for their family bakery. You’ll likely come here to pick up a cake, a few loaves of bread or some other baked sweet that’s loads better than the stuff you’d get at a typical grocery store. Make sure to book a little extra time, though. You’ll want to linger here. A visit that neglects a Cuban sandwich at this suburban bakery is a food crime of the highest order. It’s without a doubt the best version of the classic sandwich you can buy in and around Dallas. The roast pork is tender and flavorful and the ham is thinly shaved in a sandwich that isn’t at all greasy or heavy. If pig isn’t your thing, the ropa vieja takes a close second place. This sandwich is filled with rich, stewed beef that soaks the bread with its viscous sauce. Wash it down with a Cuban coffee or a soda. This little bakery storefront has plenty of both.
