Located in an old Richardson strip mall for over 40 years, Pizza Villa retains its fabulously retro neon sign that dates back to the mid-60s. The pies here boast a super-thin, crackery crust with generous amounts of fresh toppings, but you won’t find barbecue chicken or artichokes here -- Pizza Villa sticks to the classics, and anchovies are about as exotic as the menu gets. (The retro feel extends to the salads, which are merely iceberg lettuce with a couple token tomatoes.) The pint-sized interior is sparsely appointed with a few wooden booths and a handful of autographed pictures, including one from Christie Brinkley. How Billy Joel’s supermodel ex-wife wound up at a hole-in-the-wall Richardson pizza joint flanked by a sari shop and an Indian buffet, the world may never know.
