M83
Thursday, October 11, at Palladium Ballroom

This must be some kind of record. The three most anticipated shows coming to town in the next year belong to M83. The two taking place at the Granada Theater later this month are sold out already. I wonder how long it will take for these tickets to disappear.

One Direction
Monday, July 22, 2013, at American Airlines Center

The return of the boy band marking the return of boy bands. Make sense? British pop act One Direction's Gexa Energy show sold out very quickly, so they've booked another show 14 months from now. My hat goes off to the band's ability to plan ahead. I don't even know what I'm going to be doing 14 minutes from now.

The Rocket Summer
Friday, June 15
, at the Granada
The Flower Mound based pop-punk act, fronted by Bryce Avery, has done really well for itself. They've just wrapped up a tour opening for Switchfoot, and now they're headlining the Granada.

Flyleaf
Sunday, May 20, at Palladium Ballroom

This is a show benefiting the family of the band's soundman, who recently died in a car accident. All proceeds go to his wife and two-year-old son.

Saving Abel
Saturday, June 9, at South Side Music Hall

Not sure what brings hard rockers Saving Abel back on the road again. They haven't released an album since 2010. I'm guessing money runs thinner than water in the world of butt-rock.

Dream Theater
Monday, July 9, at Verizon Theatre

When I first worked at CD Warehouse's Mesquite location in 1998, one of my co-workers would only play Dream Theater CDs over the store's stereo system. It was what made me decide not to be a guitar virtuoso.

Aaron Lewis
Monday, July 9, at House Of Blues

Guy from Staind goes country.

Firewater
Saturday, September 22, at Dada

Tod A, former member of Cop Shoot Cop, left the group and moved to Istanbul to form Firewater, a klezmer punk act with jazz and ska leanings. Parade of Flesh brings this show to Dada, which should be a welcome change from your standard indie rock show.

First Aid Kit
Saturday, October 13, at The Kessler Theater

First Aid Kit's first notable recording was a viral YouTube video of the two Swedish sisters covering Fleet Foxes' "Tiger Mountain Peasant Song." It wasn't just a short-lived career. They just released their second album, The Lion's Roar, which features Conor Oberst, to critical acclaim

Rush
Wednesday, November 28, at American Airlines Center

It's difficult to even pronounce the names Geddy Lee and Neil Peart without irony.
