Neil Halstead
Saturday, August 4, at Good Records

Once the lead singer of one of the loudest and dreamiest shoegaze acts, Slowdive, Neil Halstead has somehow found himself far away from the style he once perfected. After a decade of playing country pop in Mojave 3, he's now strumming solo, in preview of his third album, Palindrome Hunches.

Sixpence None The Richer
Thursday, August 2, at Trees

It's hard to believe this band is back. They'd already jumped the shark long before my teenage years were over, but it'll be interesting to see if they have any gas left in the tank.

War Party/Doom Ghost Split 7-inch Release, Bitch Bricks
Thursday, August 2, at Lola's

This night, heavy with some of Fort Worth's best punk bands, is brought to you by Fortlive.com. Lo-Life Recordings is putting out the 7-inch, and you should check out their PiL/Tom Snyder spoof for further proof of why you should check this show out.

Dirty Projectors, Wye Oak
Friday, August 3, at The Kessler Theater

This is easily the top show of the weekend. Wye Oak's melancholy pop (find a way to download their cover of The Kinks' "Strangers" now), followed by Dirty Projectors proggy pop will make for an incredible show.

The Flatlanders
Friday, August 3, at Cendera Center

DFW loves the Flatlanders. Joe Ely, Butch Hancock and Jimmy Dale Gilmore love DFW, too. If you're in Fort Worth, this will be a good chance to check out the Cendera Center. Oh, and check out our 100 best Texas songs list for picks from all three.

Sarah Jaffe
Friday, August 3, at Dan's Silverleaf

It's the triumphant return of Sarah Jaffe after her month long tour with Blitzen Trapper.

The Coathangers, Jaill
Friday, August 3, at Bryan Street Tavern

Atlanta punk act The Coathangers have been a favorite act of Parade of Flesh from some time now. They've already been through a handful of times in the last year, so this should be a well-attended show. Get there early for Sub Pop trio Jaill and locals Sealion.

KISS, Motley Crue
Saturday, August 4, at Gexa Energy Pavilion

Lot's of makeup. Lots of pyrotechnics.

The Memorials
Saturday, August 4, at Hailey's Club

Apparently, this band was formed by drummer Thomas Pridgen when he left The Mars Volta. The music is quite a bit harder than Pridgen's previous band, and should go over pretty well at Hailey's.

Elemental Souls
Saturday, August 4, at Sandaga 813

Check out our preview of the DJ night here.

Bludded Head
Saturday, August 4, at Rubber Gloves Rehearsal Studios

Audra explains in this week's issue that the first 100 copies of Bludded Head's new album come with elephant poop envelopes. They're making merchandise out of anything these days.

Team Tomb
Saturday, August 4, at Dan's Silverleaf

Denton's Team Tomb, formerly known as Coves, is about to release their self-titled chamber pop debut, which is fantastic.

House of Plates' Eats vs. Beats
Sunday, August 5, at Fraternal Order of Eagles

There will be no live music, but there will be some fierce volleyball action happening between local music entities and local restaurants, some sand-kicking and some shit-talking. And a lot of sweating and wheezing. There will also be DJs, a fashion show, and THE POOL.
