Steve Earle is a country music legend. Not much else you can say about him. Earle's career has seen it's hills and valleys, mostly due to his struggles with addiction, but his music has remained pure from the beginning.

Daniel Hart, Radiant

Thursday, April 26, at AT&T Performing Arts Center

I play drums for the first band on this bill, and we've been lucky enough to grab Daniel Hart's coattails for this bill. Hart, a brilliant violinist and pop songwriter, will be releasing his album The Orientalist next month. Stop by this free outdoor show at 5:30 p.m. to hear a bit of it.

Khaira Arby

Thursday, April 26, at The Kessler Theater

Malian singer Khaira Arby will be at the Kessler tonight, a perfect location to see an artist that mixes African tradition with psych and soul. Yells at Eels open, bringing the out-there-ness of their new 7-inch, Wind Streaks in Syrtis Major, a little closer to home.

Nappy Roots, Dustin Cavazos

Thursday, April 26, at Trees

I don't know how he does it, but Dustin Cavazos is the go-to opening act when big hip-hop shows come to town.

Psychic Ills

Electro-pop-psych act Psychic Ills had a nice reception at 35 Denton last month, which is probably why they've returned to Dallas in such a hurry.

Twilight Circus Dub Sound System

Thursday, April 26, at Bryan Street Tavern

It's pretty safe to say Wanz Dover is a master of many musical styles. (Check out our review of Blixaboy's new record in this week's paper.) Tonight, he opens for legendary Dutch DJ Twilight Circus Sound System.

It seems that even over a decade after bands on the Elephant Six label were in their prime, they still have a grip on the indie rock community. Take this Olivia Tremor Control show at Sons of Hermann Hall. It took two promoters -- Parade of Flesh and Tactics Productions -- to put it on. And it will likely sell out.

Mayer Hawthorne mixes soul and rock for a sound that is commonly nodded to by hip-hop stars and is easily adaptable for television scenes.

Deer Tick

Saturday, April 28, at The Loft

Deer Tick are no strangers to Dallas. Over the last few years they've performed in town, including a collaboration they did with Dawes, which they called Middle Brother. The band's country-rock show will be a good way to usher in the hot weather.

Meat Puppets

Saturday, April 28, at Dan's Silverleaf

Meat Puppets have again reunited after their second breakup in the Aughts. Not sure why, though. The band's biggest claim to fame is influencing Nirvana and Pavement. Still, that's pretty cool.

Bugs Henderson Memorial Concert

Sunday, April 29, at Poor David's Pub

It's been nearly two months since the famously unfamous blues guitarist passed away due to complications with liver cancer. Hopefully this memorial concert will do justice to the legend.
