Maybe you knew this, and maybe you didn't, but there exists a noise ordinance law in Texas that specifically designates the times in which music can be amplified -- something most often skirted around due to the fact that, in most cases, when music is being played after 10:30 p.m. (the time the state lists in its law), it isn't being blasted to "disturb the peace or to be unreasonably offensive to the public."
Nonetheless, the folks behind Headspeakers.net believe they've found a way around the law -- or, in their words, a way to please "those night owls that don't agree with 2 a.m. as a stopping point for the party."
Here's how it works: On Saturday, May 7, at the Green Elephant, Headspeakers will present a whole cast of DJs (see list at right) performing as part of a night that they're calling "Dallas' First Silent Disco," only, instead of a PA system pumping out the jams, the organizers will instead hand out 500 wireless headphones to the attendees. And, because the night will be completely silent to those without headphones, the party, which is scheduled to start at 10 p.m., will go full-on until 5 a.m.
