Black Tie Dynasty's drowning here! And you're describing the water!
We're just under a month off from this year's Austin City Limits Festival, and, sure, maybe you're excited.
But I'd guess that Black Tie Dynasty, The Orange and Gazelles are even more so. It was announced today that these three bands have made it to the third of four rounds in the annual The Sound and The Jury competition for the final open slot at ACL.
We first told you about this competition back in mid-July, when round one was underway. Well, here's what's gone down since:
- Of the hundreds of entrants into the competition, a top 100 were selected based solely off fan-driven Internet voting in Round One. - In Round Two, a selection committee listened to the song submissions from the top 100 vote-getters and selected their 20 favorite.
Now, in Round Three, fans will again have the chance to support their acts, as fan voting has again been opened up on the competition's Web site, and will remain open until September 12. The top five vote-getters in this round will then perform in a Battle of the Bands in Austin on September 24.
So, just sayin', you might want to head over to the competition's site and lay down some votes for your hometown favorites if you want Dallas to be represented by more than just Erykah Badu.
