In case it isn't already, go ahead and circle Thursday, July 7, in bright red ink on your nearest calendar. That, of course, is the night when Centro-matic will return to North Texas as part of their summer tour in promotion of their new album release, Candidate Waltz, for a gig at Dan's Silverleaf in Denton, complete with opening support from fellow North Texan Sarah Jaffe. We're gonna go out on a limb right now and announce that this sucker's gonna sell out, so go buy your tickets right now if you still haven't.
And, OK, go ahead and pre-order Candidate Waltz while you're at it. We've been fortunate enough to have the disc here at DC9 HQ for months now at this point, and, indeed, we can confirm to you right now: It's pretty phenomenal, as if the above video for lead single "Only In My Double Mind," released all the way back in January, wasn't already proof.
All caught up on your purchases now? Good! Now, some more good news: Looks like Centro-matic's got some free stuff to toss your way, too.
Earlier today, the band email with the news that they're also giving away the mp3 for "Only In My Double Mind" away as a free download. Go grab it here.
What the band didn't formally announce, but we will right now, is that a couple of weeks ago on their website they also released 24 other songs from throughout their 15-year career as a free download. Why? Take it away, band:
People often ask what Centro-matic or South San Gabriel album to start with. There's no easy answer to this, so we are giving away a couple of songs from each album spanning the 15 years the band has been making music together. Please share this with your friends.Yes, please. Get it here. Then, for sure, share away.
