Really can't say I know too much about the Southern Entertainment Awards--well, not much other than that the site hasn't updated its main page since 2007. But the site has updated its voting page more recently--today, in fact, since this marks the start of the voting process in its sixth annual southern hip-hop awards.
As for the nominees? It's mostly inside baseball, boasting names unfamiliar to even the most prudent hip-hop observers. But a couple locals do pop up in the voting:
- Definition DJs, the 70-employee, two-state DJ outfit run by DJ Drop (the man who brought the D-Town Boogie to area clubs) is up for DJ Crew of the Year
- DJ Drop and Tum Tum's collaboration, The Definition of a ZillaNaire, is up for Best Rap Mix of the Year.
