Followers of Dallas rapper Dorrough, the man behind "Walk That Walk," "Ice Cream Paint Job" and "Get Big," on Twitter were treated to an onslaught of retweets on Thursday from the fast-rising performer's account, most of which centered around a rumor that the Lancaster native's cell phone was stolen and that, with it, a "sex tape" held on the phone's hard drive had been obtained.
This morning, via a statement released by his publicist, the rapper confirms the news.
"There have been reports circulating about a 'sex tape' involving myself, and I want to set the record straight," Dorrough writes. "Unfortunately, the footage does exist, and some of the footage was on my cell phone, which I've recently lost. I am only concerned with making sure my family and people close to me aren't hurt by this, and I want to focus on making music for my fans."
The tone of the statement a bit fishy, though, considering the dozens of times Dorrough passed along tweets from his female fans excited by the news. And, OK, given how often Dorrough tweets, we're also a little confused by exactly when his phone may have been stolen.
But, nonetheless, the fact (or so Dorrough will have us believe) remains: There exists footage of the rapper engaged in some form of intercourse, and, yes, it's possible that the footage could be released by some party in the future.
This fact's also true: There's no such thing as bad publicity. If nothing else, the incident has afforded Dorrough ample opportunity for puns circulating around his new single, "Get Big." It also provided Dorrough with the chance to leak a new song from his upcoming sophomore release, Get Big, which is set for release on September 7. Give the song, fittingly called "Freaky," a listen after the jump.
