Well, we've got some good news and we've got some bad news.

Bad news first: No DC9er Mixtape for you this week. Sorry 'bout that, folks.

The good news, though? We might have something better.

Last week, DC9er Mixtape alum DJ A1 and his frequent collaborator DJ Sober (who you can get to know better by watching this awesome video) released what amounts to pretty much the perfect summer mixtape--it's cool, breezy, bouncy and maybe just a little ironic.

It's called Automatic. Not sure why, but you can go ahead and download it for free right here--just in time for your weekend pool parties, no doubt. Check the tracklisting (and second half of the delightful cover art) after the jump.

Also, since we're already talking about Sober, be sure to keep an eye out for the Observer hitting stands next Wednesday evening/Thursday morning. In it, I catch up with the former member of The Party and get all the details on a new, super-exciting and really cool monthly event he's launching on June 12 at The Cavern called Dope on Plastic.

The premise of the gig? Well, like the name implies, any and all DJs stopping through the venue will be doing their thing exclusively by using vinyl. Plus, Sober's hooked the event up with some pretty big names--he'll be bringing in some big-name guest DJs and hooking attendees up with free handouts from vinyl labels. Anyway, it's all sounding pretty cool. Kinda like this mix.
