It proved well worth the wait, showing an older, wiser and more self-assured side of the Dallas emcee. Fresh Kaufee founder/designer/rapper -topic dropped The 5 Song Mixtape earlier this week, an experimental response to G.O.O.D. Music's Cruel Summer. Dive Hi Fly Lo, A.Dd+ Dallas has been waiting for the follow up to 2011's When Pigs Fly, and with A.Dd+'s Paris Pershun recently leaking the working tracklist on Instagram, it looks like the wait will soon be over. With all the shine they got from last year's debut, Dive Hi Fly Lo is anticipated to launch the power duo further into the national spotlight. If the singles A.Dd+ has released over the last 12 months are any indicator, the nawfside Beavis and Butthead are going to be wrapping up the year with a bang.
Passion, Bobby Sessions If you're paying attention at all, you're paying attention to Brain Gang right now. And when affiliate Bobby Sessions is on the mic, you're definitely paying attention to him.This barely legal Denton lyricist has been teasing the streets all summer, dropping b-side singles like "Stephen A. Smith," which he recently released a video for. Passion comes on December 13. "This project is very personal in the context of just expressing my life," says Sessions, "[with] songs detailing my religious battles, one's journey to find themselves, embarrassing moments, and the struggles of an artist in pursuit of achieving legendary status."
Sea Monsters, Picnictyme Picnictyme is one of the hardest working men in Dallas rap. Between his gigs as AD.d+'s go-to producer and unofficial third member, Erykah Badu's improv beat crew the Cannabinoids, and an impressive list of production credits for various artists, he's somehow managed to find the time to work on his debut solo LP, Sea Monsters. This project, which has been years in the making, will show us a side of Pic we've never seen before. "[It's] more sensitive-type stuff," he says. "It's based on the saying, 'There's always more fish in the sea,' but there's also sea monsters in that bitch..."
Good Nights & Bad Mornings, Snow Tha Product Snow's earned street cred with a string of successful mixtapes, a cult following she 7urtures with her own online social network, and an appearance on this summer's Rock The Bells tour. "Hola," the latest single from her upcoming Good Nights & Bad Mornings mixtape, is a high-energy banger with classic Dirty South sensibilities. I can assure you, when it drops, every mouthy Latina girl in Dallas is gonna be feelin' it, myself included. Snow Tha Product's got the city behind her.
Verlore Verstand, Jenny Robinson Jenny Robinson is the best female emcees you've never heard of. If you've ever had the pleasure of watching this vulgar blonde vixen on stage, you already know what homegirl is capable of. As lyrically stunning as she is titillating to watch, the self-professed Dead Rebelladonna is one of the local scene's best kept secrets. She's spent the past year playing shows around Denton's house show and dive bar circuit, making a based pilgrimage to her native New Jersey to recharge creatively, and preparing this debut mixtape, Verlore Verstand. This time next year, when Jenny's straight slaying the game, don't say I didn't warn you.
