Montreal-based Land of Talk is an alternative indie rock band with dreamy vocals provided by jazz trained vocalist/guitarist Elizabeth Powell. The trio formed in 2006 and provide an amazingly dense sound that is both clear in its soundscape and technically proficient in its execution. The group supported Broken Social Scene while promoting their first album, Some are Lakes.

The band's second album, Cloak and Cipher, was released just this past August, and was written during Powell's recovery from a hemorrhage vocal polyp. The disc features contributions from the likes of Arcade Fire, Patrick Watson, and Stars. Impressive stuff, for sure.

And when Land of Talk stops by The Nightmare tomorrow night in support of their new disc, they'll be joined by another Montreal-based band, dark electro-rockers Suun (formerly Zeroes), which recently signed to Secretly Canadian, a label known for introducing listeners to the likes of Animal Collective, Yeasayer, and Catfish Haven. We've told you about this band before, actually: Darryl Smyers recently picked Suun's above "Up Past the Nursery" for a Staff Trax pick. The band, comprised of singer/guitarist Ben Shemie, guitarist/bassist Joe Yarmush, drummer Liam O'Neill and keyboardist Max Henry, creates a mix of heavy hip-hop synths, dark electronic textures, dub, shoegaze and big breakbeats that remain dark but very melodic.

Should be quite the show., And Parade of Flesh, which is bringing this show to The Nightmare tomorrow, has been kind enough to pass along a pair of tickets for us to hand out to one lucky DC9 reader. See how to win the tickets after the jump.

Be the first person to email Pete right now with the words "Land of A Thousand Suns" in the subject line, and you're in. Good luck!

Update: Contest is over. Congrats to our winner!
