Lorin Ashton, the lone member of the freeform electronic project known as Bassnectar, describes his music as "omni-tempo maximalism." But before you scream WTF and dismiss Ashton as a self-obsessed loon, you might want to check out his impressive way with buzzes and beeps.

Bassnectar's electronics are a wash of tempos and styles. Genres as diverse as polka, salsa, death metal and balkan gypsy music make their way into Ashton's imposing sonic palate. Besides releasing seven albums under the Bassnectar name (the latest being Cozza Frenzy), Ashton has also remixed an assorted collection of artists including the likes of STS9, Michael Franti, KRS-One and, most recently, a Pitchfork-approved rendition of Fever Ray's "When I Grow Up."

Plus, the three singles Bassnectar has released just this year alone (including the above mind-numbing "Art of Revolution") show an artist just hitting his stride.
