Tokyo avant-garde hard-n-heavy rockers Boris are making a highly anticipated tour stop tonight at The Loft in Dallas.
That's reason enough for excitement, but the icing on the cake is that Chicago's Russian Circles are also on the bill, adding some slow-building, heavy-riffing instrumental madness that sounds something like Godspeed You! Black Emperor or Explosions in the Sky might come up with if they played intricate rhythmic metal--and who were a highlight of my Fun Fun Fun Fest experience. Topping the bill is the poppier, less-heavy Czech duo Saade, who will probably appeal to anyone still buzzing from Lightning Bolt's Trees show earlier this month. Tickets come to just over $21 with service charges at FrontGate...unless you're fast with the e-mailing. Thanks to Loft promoter Kris Youmans, each of the first two readers to e-mail me with the subject "BORIS HEAVY ROCKS!!!" will win a pair of tickets to the show. Don't forget to include your name.
Update: Contest over. Congrats, winners.
