Tomorrow night brings Mates of State to town, which is fine and good and all that, sure. They've been great the last two times they've come through. But we here at DC9 are looking most forward to the opening set from Minneapolis' Free Energy, a band that, as Daniel Hopkins explains in his interview with them in this week's paper, is just a straight-up, un-ironic rock outfit--one which recalls the Thin Lizzies and Cheap Tricks of yore.

Plus, James Murphy, who we're kinda crushing on these days, produced their debut full-length, Stuck on Nothing. And we liked what we saw of them at SXSW back in March.

So, lucky you, then, that the folks at the Granada are giving us two pairs of tickets to hand out to tomorrow night's affair. Want in? Be among the first two to email me, starting right now, with the words "More Cowbell!" in the subject line. Do that and you're golden. Good luck!

Update: Contest is over. Congrats to our winners.
