Don't even begin to kid yourselves: Getting around town this weekend will be a pain. Lower Greenville in particular? It's gonna suck. So hard.
What really sucks though, is that it's a pretty packed weekend of live music, and if you're gonna head out on the town, well, you're just gonna have to put up with all the TX/OU crap. Thankfully, enough of what's happening this weekend does appear worth the while.
So, without further ado, let's just jump right in, first with the shows we've already talked up...
Tonight, there's The Black Crowes at the Palladium, Har Mar Superstar at The Lounge on Elm, and, as we just explained, the Red Bull Soundclash event with Erykah Badu, The Cannabinoids and Shiny Toy Guns at Victory Plaza.
On Saturday, there's the Texas Guitar Show in Arlington Convention Center, the CD release party for Daniel Folmer's third CD in 18 months at J&J's Pizza in Denton, the opening of The Info Shop in Arlington and the Baruch the Scribe EP release at Hailey's in Denton.
Sunday, meanwhile, be sure to clear your schedules for The Ramonas, True Widow, Early Man and Valient Thorr (plus a mechanical bull!) at The Double Wide's sixth anniversary party.

Because, dammit, if you like James Brown, you'll love Black Joe and his seven-piece backing band The Honeybears. Stop by Good Records on Friday at 6 p.m. for a free in-store performance with beer. Or stop by the House of Blues on Saturday, to catch DC9 favorite Dem Southernfolkz opening the night. Can't make either? Settle for tonight's show at the House of Blues, with Austin retro-pop-rockers Leatherbag in the opening slot.

The Paper Chase, The Great Tyrant, Personal Victories with George Quartz

Because The Paper Chase consistently puts on one of the best shows in the region, because you have to see The Great Tyrant to believe it, and because George Quartz tells me his Faux Fox outfit is pretty much defunct at this point and he's pouring his efforts into this new venture, which sounds pretty promising, actually.
Who's Bad: A Michael Jackson Tribute

Because you're not over Michael Jackson's death yet and you surely can't wait until October 28, when the documentary This Is It earns its release.
