Now let's take a gander at what's in store for this weekend. First, the shows we've already discussed.
Saturday sees our poster-winning show from The Slider Pines, Kirby Brown and Glen Farris coming to life at the Double Wide. But, for the most part, Sunday's the big night. That's when Jeff Beck plays Nokia, when Dierks Bentley and his very special guests play Billy Bob's, and when Baruch The Scribe takes to Rubber Gloves with Western Giants and Sam Robertson.
But wait, there's more. And, actually, it's pretty rockin' weekend we've got on tap. Literally, I mean. Rock 'n' roll is indeed the name of the game this time around.

You already know how much we love RTB2. This show find the powerful duo sharing the bill with some younger up-and-comers, including Denton college-rock outfit Young & Brave, the Neutral Milk Hotel-influenced Roy Robertson and piano-popper Jessie Frye of Arlington.
Fair to Midland, Exit 380, The House Harkonnen, Serosia
Friday, April 23, at Trees
Now very much healed and having recouped its losses from its van crash this winter, FTM brings its high-octane show to Trees--which might be the best setting in which to catch the band. Here, it's joined by the Alice in Chain-adoring Exit 380 and DC9 favorite House Harkonnen.
Robert Gomez, Tim Miller, Barry Kooda
Friday, April 23, at the Kessler Theatre in Oak Cliff
A fine triple-bill of area singer-songwriters. Gomez's songs are among the most gorgeous and painstakingly produced you'll find in North Texas or beyond, and Kooda's long earned his rep around town since his days in DFW proto-punk outfit The Nervebreakers.
Guy Forsyth, Charming Gardeners
Friday, April 23, at La Grange
The Austin country favorite is joined on this bill by one of the first performances Charming Gardeners--which features members of Shanghai 5, Solly and Homespun Remedies--has offered since announcing its signing to Idol Records.

Better than SMU's Big Boi/Girl Talk pairing? No. But a nice score for UTA nonetheless.

I think the safest bet you can make about the upcoming summer music season is that area media outlets are gonna be all over The Hope Trust's first release in three years. The band's debut only recently caught traction and, with a new disc on the way, you can bet that roots- and Wallflowers-loving locals will be drooling once they've had a taste.

Fort Worth's own major label darlings--whose most recent single, "Come On," has done pretty well on the VH1 Top 20 Video Countdown--kick off a new, charity-driven tour in Dallas.
Spindrift, THe BAcksliders, Land Mammals
Sunday, April 25, at Dan's Silverleaf in Denton
Spindrift will play again on Monday night at Dallas' City tavern. But this show for Dentonites finds the band on a particularly rocking bill with THe BAcksliders. At last weekend's Good Records party for Record Store Day, the band again proved why its retro-focused blues-rock and its energetic live performances are such treats. Most area bands could learn a thing or two from the effort (and swat) that this band exudes in its live shows.
