Been wondering when Index Festival is going to announce its 2015 lineup? For last year's festival, which took place in September, organizers Spune held a big to-do at Trees in the springtime to reveal the first round of bands. Here we are in August but still there's been no word on the 2015 event. Turns up there's good reason: Index won't be happening this year.

In a press release issued late this afternoon, Spune announced that Index is being moved back to the spring of 2016, a decision that was taken "in order to give the festival the best opportunity to grow."

“This change comes after careful consideration,” says Spune CEO Matthew Harber in the press release. “We spent this past year focused on building strategic partnerships and securing additional resources so that Index can continue to provide the best, quality event festival-goers have come to expect while also attracting a new audience to the fast growing music community of Dallas.”

Spune has certainly been busy this year — and pertinently, they will be busy come the fall. Having already knocked out the Austin and Fort Worth installments of the Untapped Festival, which they run in conjunction with Dallas Morning News via their Crowdsource partnership, they'll be hosting two more Untapped events in Houston (October) and Dallas (November). Plus, as was announced earlier this week, Crowdsource will also be hosting The Reunion, a new music fest held during the Texas-OU football game on October 9.

Index had been scheduled to take place on September 25 and 26 (a move back to two days from its three-day format last year), which is less than eight weeks away. It's also the same weekend that Oaktopia is set to take place in Denton with bands like Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeroes, Minus the Bear and the Polyphonic Spree. The move avoids Index having to go head-to-head with that festival.

The announcement says the rescheduled dates will be announced "by November 10," which is the week after Untapped Dallas takes place. Fans who already bought Early Bird tickets "will be contacted directly," and offered passes to The Reunion or Untapped as alternative options.
