Just a few weeks ago, shoegaze duo with local ties, School of Seven Bells, announced that their third full- length record, Ghostory, would be released at the beginning of 2012. Today, Pitchfork reports that the album's official release date will be February 28, 2012.
With the news, the band went ahead and released the first single, "The Night," a song that sounds like a Cocteau Twins jam on speed. If the single is any indication, the new album won't sound too terribly different from the music on their last record, Disconnect From Desire; though it is the first release since the loss of Claudia Deheza.

Just before Thanksgiving, the film earned its official release, and can be rented or purchased on iTunes, where it's already seen a fair amount of success. At the end of last week, it peaked at the number 38 spot on the iTunes chart.
Other Opening Bell regular performers Summer Ames and Becki Middleton aren't in the movie, but they're featured on the soundtrack, which is also available on iTunes.
In blues-on-the-high-seas news, Jim Suhler, who recently took us on a blues tour of Dallas, just returned from performing on The Rock Legends Cruise. The cruise, a self-proclaimed "floating rock festival," featured performances from ZZ Top, George Thorogood (for whom Suhler plays guitar), Foghat, Edgar Winter Band and many more. It's hard to have the blues after spending four days in the Bahamas.
And finally, Europe-by-way-of-Denton expat Josh T. Pearson was panned by Pitchfork yet again. Though this time it wasn't for his album, Last of the Country Gentlemen. It was for the album cover. Seems a photo of Pearson and a semi-topless model was enough to earn a place on their Worst Album Covers of 2011 list. Again, we disagree.
