Lone Star 92.5 Is Out For Blood This Week

So this may seem slightly promotional right now, but it’s for a bloody good cause. (Get it? Bloody! It’s a blood drive! Damn, we’re good.) Anyway, KZPS-FM Lone Star 92.5's 34th Annual Blood Drive is in full swing. (And yeah, we know what you’re thinking: 34th annual?! Well, think back...

So this may seem slightly promotional right now, but it’s for a bloody good cause. (Get it? Bloody! It’s a blood drive! Damn, we’re good.)

Anyway, KZPS-FM Lone Star 92.5's 34th Annual Blood Drive is in full swing. (And yeah, we know what you’re thinking: 34th annual?! Well, think back on all those glorious, life-saving Q102 Blood Drives and remember that the stations’ motherships are one in the same.)

Not only can you donate some pints of much needed red—summertime means supplies are especially low—but you have the chance to win some autographed axes, too. Frampton, Skynard, Pat Green, ZZ Top--they’ve all put their signatures on six-strings for the Carter BloodCare cause. Of course, if you’re into cruising, galloping or flying, Harley-Davidson merch, Lone Star Park prizes and free airfare, those prizes will also be on the winners table, too. Us? We tend to prefer the instruments, but, then again, we’re a music blog, so it’s only natural.

And yes, loyal donors, those collectible T-shirts have once again returned, so no fretting there. Just have a photo ID to prove your 17-plus years and be in good general health and head to the drive locations this week (list after the jump).

Today through 6 p.m.: Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie

Wednesday and Thursday from 6 a.m. through 6 p.m.: Billy Bob’s Texas in Fort Worth

Friday from 6 a.m. through 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. through 3 p.m.: Dallas Harley Davidson in Garland, I-635 at Ferguson

Before you get wimpy and worried, Saturday’s drive time includes needle-distraction in the form of live music by Voodoo Blue (SRV tribute) and Jumpback (myriad covers), though all dates will feature live broadcasts from the Lone Star jocks.

And if leaving work early isn’t reward enough, remember, according to Carter BloodCare, “each donation has the potential to help an average of three patients” and each day, more than 1,100 donors are depended on locally to supply blood to patients. Type O blood is encouraged, but all blood types are valued. Most medications don’t interfere with eligibility but if you have questions, call 1-800-DONATE-4 or visit carterbloodcare.org. --Merritt Martin
