Surprise, surprise. The storyline for the Who's visit to Dallas over the weekend seemed predictable enough, with the only real question mark being whether or not this would be the last time we'd see them play here. But that didn't account for opener and recent Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Joan Jett having a trick up her sleeve, as Miley Cyrus showed up unexpectedly to play "Crimson and Clover" and "I Hate Myself for Loving You" at the end of her set at American Airlines Center.

Having Cyrus show up to perform with Jett wasn't as unlikely as it may at first seem. The two have long been friends, and Cyrus gave Jett a rousing speech at the Hall of Fame induction ceremony last month, where the pair also performed "Crimson and Clover." The two clearly have a lot of respect for each other.

What made it more special was that Cyrus didn't just play the one song and make a hasty exit. Instead, she stuck around for the closing song of Jett's set, "I Hate Myself for Loving You" (introduced with the comment, "I'm sure you can all think of somebody that would fit this description" -- just about the only dialogue from their time on stage together), which would've been a hell of an ending on its own. With Cyrus around, it sent the place into a frenzy.

The take away from it all wasn't just a reminder that Cyrus is a hell of singer but, more importantly, it proved yet again that Jett is as much of a badass as ever, even as she approaches 60.
