Post Malone's "Posty Fest" Will Include a Number of Underground Names

Post Malone, Dallas’ favorite New Yorker, has finally unveiled the rest of the lineup for his upcoming day-long festival. The event dubbed Posty Fest, which was announced to take place Oct. 28 earlier this year, is already being headlined by Malone himself as well as Travis Scott. However the rest of the lineup is a relatively obscure group of up-and-coming hip-hop artists for the most part.

Lil’Skies, the “Catch Me Outside” rapper Ski Mask and the Slump God are among a few that will also join. The bill, which almost reads like a playlist straight out of Malone’s own phone, mostly features an eclectic mix of bleeding edge acts. Odd Future founder, Tyler, the Creator, will also round out the marquee acts for the festival.

Tyler made a surprise comeback last year, racking up a Grammy nomination for Flower Boy and putting out some of the best bars he has since 2013’s Wolf. Getting Grammy nods is a big change for the 20-something rapper, especially after being banned from Britain and accused of inciting riots. Though he’s far from the most notable act scheduled for Malone’s festival.

A North Philadelphia native, artist/rapper Tierra Whack made more than a splash earlier this year after the release of Whack World back in March. The album is a 15-minute look into the mind of its creator, an audio/visual experience composed of 15 one-minute songs of varying styles with accompanying videos. With skull-cracking force, Whack’s album shows the listener exactly what’s on her mind, and her inclusion on the bill is perhaps the most intriguing so far announced.


Posty Fest is so far shaping up to be a pretty decent show, so long as your musical tastes align with Malone’s. Some of the lesser known names like Saint JHN and Tyla Yaweh have a few decent tracks apiece that definitely take modern conventions to new places. The former’s “3 Below,” released last year, is a croon-ish slow burner and sleeper SoundCloud hit. Los Angeles-based Yaweh’s “Drugs and Pain” has an impressive flow, despite his green lyricism and honey-bee high voice.

So it seems Posty Fest is all that it’s been cracked up to be thus far, on paper at least. Rumors of special guests and surprise appearances still hang heavily over the event, so who’s to say who will show up. With the likes of Tyler and Travis Scott anchoring the event, and the deep cuts in between, there’s enough to be excited about just on face value.
