Paste Magazine's been a big supporter of the DFW music scene in the past year or so, specifically dolling out the praise to a number of Denton bands. So on that note--and, yes, maybe we should have mentioned this earlier--may we direct your attention to the campaign to save the mag, which has been hurt, just like the rest of us, by the ongoing recession.

It's not just a straight up beg-fest, though. In exchange for donations of $25 or more, Paste is giving supporters rare and exclusive mp3s from over 75 artists who support the magazine, too. You can do your part right here.

In case you were curious, yes, there is another local tie: Dallas-born singer-songwriter Michelle Shocked, whose new CD Soul of my Soul earned its release yesterday, is just one of the many musicians lending their support to the cause. You can hear her contribution, the demo of her song "Let's Create Love", by visiting the site's download vault.
