Flo Rida, Cee Lo, B.o.B.
Saturday, July 21, at American Airlines Center, $99-$129
This
show is all part of the "R You on the List" tour. To get "on the list,"
you're going to need at least $99, but it will be worth it to see Flo
Rida, right? I'd probably be most interested in seeing Cee Lo, mostly because he reminds me of a blinged-out Ewok.
The Black Lips @ The Hot Wet Mess
Saturday, September 1, at North Texas Fair Grounds, $15
Another announcement for the 35 Denton summertime festival The Hot Wet
Mess. Georgia punk act The Black Lips will headline the September show. Denton's Peopleodian cover the Lips' "Bad Kids" here.
Thad Cockrell
Saturday, July 7, at The Live Oak Music Hall & Lounge, $15
Nashville
singer/songwriter Thad Cockrell has spent the last few years focusing
on Leagues, the pop-rock act he fronts. His solo project can be
categorized more as Americana.
Stalley, Kirby Dominant, Playdough, Tycity
Saturday, August 18, at Trees, $20/$30
This
show, brought to you by Parade of Flesh, will see Ohio rapper Stalley
at Trees on Saturday, August 18. The devout Muslim emcee recently took
to Twitter to complain about the woes of being a lesser known, underrated rapper.
Lindsey Buckingham
Friday, August 24, at Cendera Center, $35-$75
A hat-tip to local bookers Spune for routing the Fleetwood Mac guitarist through Fort Worth.
The Tallest Man on Earth
Wednesday, August 29, at House of Blues, $20
I've
never given much time to The Tallest Man on Earth until I received a
copy of his most recent album, There's No Leaving Now. Since then, I
haven't been able to remove it from my player. Heavy on Dylan
inspiration, it's clear Kristian Matsson, the Swedish man behind
the moniker, is a top-notch songwriter. What's more impressive is that
he's done it in a second language.
Fiona Apple
Saturday, September 22, at Winstar World Casino, $52.05-$73.65
Technically, this show shouldn't apply to our announcement, but this might be your
only chance to see Fiona Apple fresh off the release of her new album, The Idler Wheel... .
David Byrne and St. Vincent
Sunday, October 7, at McFarlin Auditorium
We were so excited about this show, Audra wrote about it last week.
Jackson Browne
Sunday, November 4, at Verizon Theatre, $45-$69.50
One
of rock's great songwriters, Jackson Browne, will be at the Verizon
Theatre, armed with only an acoustic guitar. Good songs can be stripped
down to their basic form and still stand up well, which Browne proves.
Morrissey
Wednesday, November 28, at Kay Yeager Coliseum, $41.50-$44.50
Much
ado has already been made of this bizarre booking for Moz in Wichita
Falls. Why he would choose to skip the metroplex to play a show in the
smallish town to the Northwest is anyone's guess.
