Andy Warhol and The Dandy Warhols share more than just a similar name: Both artists have a history of having their art used in advertising. From The O.C. to Good Will Hunting to Mythbusters, this Portland-based post-punk outfit uses their signature sound to make a name for themselves on the small screen and big screen alike. Their 2000 hit, "Bohemian Like You," was used in over 10 TV shows, advertisements and movies, including Numb3rs, Dancing with the Stars, Ford commercials and, most recently in 2010, Chuck.
But while people in the States enjoy the band on screen, fans around the world have come to know The Dandy Warhols by the music heard and the visuals seen during their live shows. On top of these live shows and the kind of TV deals that even the freecreditreport.com guys would envy, the band has released six albums since 1995 that have been both critically acclaimed and have charted Top 40 at least somewhere in the world—everywhere from the United Kingdom to New Zealand.
Not surprisingly, The Capitol Years 1995-2007, their 2010 greatest-hits album, sounds a lot like a time machine traveling through the last decade, featuring songs you may recognize, even if you never knew they were made by this band.
