The xx Wednesday, February 13, and Thursday, February 14, at The Granada Theater Achingly hip Londoners the xx have a two-night stay at The Granada this week, meaning twice as many Dallasites will be swept away by songs from their now-ubiquitous debut album and the recently released Coexist. We're kind of lucky to get two consecutive shows from one of the world's hottest properties right now, and both nights of evocative late-night London tunes surely rank as one of the bigger events in the 2013 Dallas concert calendar. If you really want to get in, you've left it a bit late, as tickets for the long-sold-out double-header are trading for upward of $100 apiece online. If you're single, mind you, you could always get involved with the Granada's XX Dating Game, and win both a date and a much-sought-after show ticket. Boxcar Bandits, Cherie Amie Lingerie Show Monday, February 11, at Hailey's Club, Free Denton's Boxcar Bandits have been playing their warped version of Americana for just over half a decade. In that time, they've played countless shows and produced two albums: 2008's Smells Like Grass and their 2012 release, Live at Dan's Silverleaf. And while live efforts are often perfunctory product issued to fill gaps between studio efforts, Live at Dan's is a minor revelation. Recorded with amazing clarity, it perfectly encapsulates Boxcar Bandits' striking mix of traditional Americana and ragged alt-country. See the bluegrass outfit at their continuing Monday night residency at Hailey's this week, which will help draw a crowd for the scantily-clad benefit show that follows. The Cherie Amie Lingerie Show will go on later in the night, helping to benefit impoverished women in the area. -- Rachel Watts Sam Anderson & His Rowdy Friends Tuesday, February 12, at Longhorn Saloon, Free Sam Anderson is the lead singer of Fort Worth's Quaker City Nighthawks, a band that has the type of great Southern rock songs that make you crank up the volume and take your hands off the wheel for some air guitar or dashboard drumming. He's slotted for several shows at Longhorn Saloon this month, and the calendar reads: "Sam Anderson & his rowdy friends." I can only imagine who they're referring to. Live, the Fort Worth boys are incredibly tight, rhythm section locked in a Texas boogie groove with guitars riffing out irresistible hooks and surprisingly solid vocal harmonies. The Dirty Heads, Shiny Toy Guns, Midi Matilda, Oh No Fiasco Wednesday, February 13, at House of Blues, $22-$30 Get your tickets a.s.a.p. for California's reggae and hip-hop band The Dirty Heads, who put out their second full-length, Cabin by the Sea, last year. See them with L.A.'s synth-pop group Shiny Toy Guns, whose debut album earned them a Grammy nomination. Electro-pop duo Midi Matilda and Knoxville's dance rock group Oh No Fiasco open the show. This a match made in heaven for any electo-loving nerd, so this one might sell fast, y'all. -- Rachel Watts
War Party, Purple, Animal Spirit, The Royalty Thursday, February 14, at Lola's Saloon, $7/$11 The trumpet-adorned garage rockers in War Party seem like troublemakers, but really they're just big softies deep down, which is why they're headlining a Valentine's Day show at Lola's this week. (Couples get a discount on the cover, by the way.) The Fort Worth hooligans just released a music video for their track "Blame the Blues," which features hilarious shots of them running from authority in striped jumpsuits. The video comes after a series of split seven-inches that the crew released with Fort Worth's '60s-inspired trio Doom Ghost. Filling out the bill is a slew of Cowtown's raw talent: gritty rock trio Purple and psych-rock favorites Animal Spirit, who are gearing up for a debut release this spring. Lo-fi outfit The Royalties will get the Valentine's Day shindig started early with their reservoir of danceable, upbeat jams. -- Rachel Watts
