California goth-pop act The Violet Burning has been churning out albums since 1990. Past members include Jeff Schroeder, who now plays in the Smashing Pumpkins and a guy from One Republic. Their 13 albums are hit or miss, but when they're on, they're on. Hopefully they'll be that way tonight.

Dukes of September are comprised of Donald Fagen, Boz Scaggs and
Michael McDonald, and they'll presumably playing all the "hits." It's hard to think of
this band without Michael McDonald's "What A Fool Believes"
running through my head repeatedly.

Another big show at The Kessler this weekend comes from Portland act Blind Pilot. Wikipedia
says that in 2008, they went on a bicycle tour from Bellington,
Washington to San Diego, with all their equipment in custom trailers.
Hopefully they got a van for this run.
