Friday, July 13, at The Kessler Theater
Psychedelic rock pioneer Roky Erickson will be at the Kessler tomorrow night with opening act James Hall, who is legendary in his own right, and one of the greatest front men I've ever seen. Easily the top bill of the weekend. (See also: Five underrated Roky Erickson songs)
Soul Function w/ DJ Wanz Dover & DJ Gabe

The Foundry's outdoor

Joe Ely
Friday, July 13, at Poor David's Pub
Flatlanders

He comes through town pretty regularly, and this time he'll be with Austin's BettySoo, who's a must-see.
Dukes of September
Saturday, July 14, at Verizon Theatre
The
Dukes of September are comprised of Donald Fagen, Boz Scaggs and
Michael McDonald, and they'll presumably playing all the "hits." It's hard to think of
this band without Michael McDonald's "What A Fool Believes"
running through my head repeatedly.
Blind Pilot
Saturday, July 14, at The Kessler Theater
Another big show at The Kessler this weekend comes from Portland act Blind Pilot. Wikipedia
says that in 2008, they went on a bicycle tour from Bellington,
Washington to San Diego, with all their equipment in custom trailers.
Hopefully they got a van for this run.
Mark Farina
Saturday, July 14, at It'll Do Club
Chicago house DJ Mark Farina adds to the impressive list of acts gracing the stage of the newly opened It'll Do Club.

Quintron
& Miss Pussycat's music/puppet show has found an
audience in Dallas for nearly a decade, and they park their swamp buggy at the Double Wide on Sunday, along with locals Darktown Strutters.
