Back in early March, you may recall, we pointed your attention toward this oh-so-incredible acoustic performance by the Toadies of their song "Tyler," filmed and recorded on location at last year's Dia de Los Toadies festival. Greatness.
Meanwhile, in another world, LCD Soundsystem performed its last show ever about a week and a half ago.
Seemingly two things with no connection, right? Well, maybe not.
Back at Dia de Los Toadies, as part of the wholly acoustic set that
the band offered up on the first night of their weekend-long
festivities, one of the other songs that the band performed was a cover
of LCD Soundsystem's "Someone Great" -- a song that Toadies frontman Vaden Todd Lewis has actually covered a few times now.
Now, with Record Store Day fast-approaching,
the Toadies have announced that, like so many other acts, they'll be
releasing a special release for the occasion, theirs being a 7-inch
vinyl disc, filled with two songs recorded during that acoustic Dia de
Los Toadies performance. On the a-side, the disc will feature "No
Deliverance," the title track off the band's 2008 comeback album. And,
on the b-side? The band's acoustic cover of "Someone Great," which, if
nothing else, sure makes the release a timely one.
But it's
