Turns out our own Patrick Michels is a bit, well, obsessed with the Baker Hotel in Mineral Wells -- as in, "I haven't broken in there ... yet." He was just out there a couple of weeks back, matter of fact, just to see the place. Which is why, after this morning's post about plans for an extreme hotel makeover, Patrick reached out to Jeff Trigger, ex of the Adolphus and The Mansion on Turtle Creek, to see if he could get a walkthrough before the redo begins.

Trigger gave him the tentative okee-doke, after which Patrick also heard from Austin filmmaker Kevin Pruitt, who's documenting the past and present of the old hotel as it lumbers toward its fingers-crossed future. Above is an extended sneak peek at the work in progress, Ballad of the Baker, which was just posted last week; what follows is a 10-minute tour of the ruins on their way to resurrection.
