I see my boy Jeff Liles is posting some unused footage from his documentary about Bill's Records and Tapes, The Last Record Store, on YouTube. Mighty nice of the guy. Here's some of it: a snippet during which my boyhood hero George Gimarc, Idol Records' Erv Karwelis, Hydronic Sound System's Jeff "Skin" Wade and Bill Wisener talk about the state of the music industry. What they're saying isn't brand-new, which is probably why it didn't make the cut, but with the closing of the Virgin Megastore in Mockigbird Station and Tower Records, now's as good a time as any to be reminded of the sorry state of the music-sellin' business. --Robert Wilonsky
Bonus Video: Daniel Johnston performs his classic "Casper the Friendly Ghost" at Bill's Records and Tapes. This also didn't make the final cut of the documentary because it's not the world's finest piece of audio. Still, it's kinda wonderful.
