In recent days Ed Bark has brought plenty of news concerning layoffs and cutbacks at KTVT-Channel 11 -- including Robert Riggs, the ace investigator; anchor and reporter Maria Arita; sports reporter Chuck Fisher; producer John Sparks and reporter Kaushal Patel, among many others. Turns out, the Dallas CBS affiliate is doing what its siblings 'cross the country are doing: cutting jobs left and right as CBS News also guts its national news division.

Reports The New York Times this a.m., layoffs have been occurring at CBS-owned-and-operated affiliates in New York, Chicago, Boston and San Francisco, where familiar names like Riggs here were also axed. And while The Times has an exact headcount in most of the markets, it says KTVT-Channel 11 was among those to "cut an undisclosed number of positions." --Robert Wilonsky
