Sam Machkovech is at the scene of the fire on Lower Greenville and reports "there's just a shitload of people hanging around with camera phones." He says witnesses are reporting that the fire started at Nuevo Leon around 4 p.m. and spread quickly into the Arcadia, which is now fully engulfed with flames shooting out of its roof. Smoke and flames are also coming from Syn Bar's windows next door to the Arcadia. Sam says one of the problems facing firefighters is that they can't get into the building; all they can do is spray it from the outside. Sam also ran into former Dallas Cowboys special teams coach Joe Avezzano, whose Suede Bar & Grill is two blocks away from the fire. He actually told Sam, "It just looks so majestic." (Insert cringe here.) And, if you couldn't figure by now, "It's pretty hot." Sam is nothing if not very helpful. More to come. --Robert Wilonsky
