This year's Fair Park Holiday found a wet Sunday night for its free, family-friendly round of ornament decorating, photos with Santa and Christmas tattoos (they're temporary), plus the new Esplanade Fountain's big debut as another Sunday night stocking stuffer.
The fountain, with a "dancing water" show a la the Bellagio, featured choreographed sprays from 245 water jets, keeping time to "The Yellow Rose of Texas," "Jingle Bells," "Carol of the Bells" and Aaron Copland's ode to beef. It was also the first time the gates opened for a look at Contralto and Tenor, the two Art Deco statue replacements perched over one end of the fountain, after their installations last week.
Folks who'd huddled under the ESPN Deportes tent for the end of the Cowboys game slowly emerged for the 6 p.m. Official City of Dallas Tree Lighting, with a candlelight ceremony to honor veterans and current members of the U.S. military. We've got plenty more shots from the wet and wild festivities here in our slide show.
