Gary Fitzsimmons and two Dallas County colleagues have come out for Obama.

In case you were waiting to choose a presidential candidate till you found out who Dallas County District Clerk Gary Fitzsimmons, Dallas County Treasurer Joe Wells and Dallas County Clerk John Warren were voting for, well, the trio's done flipped its collective coin and come up ... Barack Obama. On the same day Hillary Clinton replaced her campaign manager with a longtime friend and senior adviser, the three Dallas County officials released a media missive in which they throw their collective support behind the Illinois senator who this weekend swept his way through Louisiana, Washington, Nebraska and, apparently, Maine.

Why come? Says Fitz, he's the next John Kennedy; adds Wells, “Barack Obama’s legacy as a community organizer and coalition builder is exactly what Dallas voters want in their next President.” The full release is after the jump. --Robert Wilonsky

DALLAS COUNTY OFFICIALS ENDORSE BARACK OBAMA IN MARCH 4 DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY

(DALLAS, TX) -- Dallas County District Clerk Gary Fitzsimmons, Dallas County Treasurer Joe Wells and Dallas County Clerk John Warren have endorsed Illinois Senator Barack Obama in the March 4th, 2008 Texas Democratic presidential primary. In making their endorsements, all three officials explained that Senator Obama’s message of change has the best chance of resonating with Dallas County voters. “Barack Obama’s diverse coalition of supporters proves he has what it takes to bring this country together and end partisan paralysis in Washington,” said Dallas County Clerk John Warren.

Dallas County District Clerk Gary Fitzsimmons added, “Barack Obama has done what no Democratic presidential candidate has been able to do since John F. Kennedy. He has electrified a new generation of Americans with his message of hope and progress.” Dallas County Treasurer Joe Wells added, “Barack Obama’s legacy as a community organizer and coalition builder is exactly what Dallas voters want in their next President.”

All three officials indicated that Dallas County will play a major role in the Democratic primary. “Dallas County voters are concerned about the nation’s economic health, foreign policy and global climate change” added Mr. Fitzsimmons. “Barack Obama’s vision is exactly what is needed to face those challenges.”

Mr. Fitzsimmons, Mr. Wells and Mr. Warren were elected to their offices in the Democratic sweep of November 2006. Mr. Fitzsimmons came to the office with a career in nonprofit management; Mr. Wells with a career in nonprofit management and as a former aide to County Commissioner Chris Semos; and Mr. Warren with a career in court administration.
