And his name is Alan King. My mom'll be thrilled -- she's a big fan of the late comic. Ah, wait. Wrong one, of course. No, this is the current deputy superintendent of the Lewisville Independent School District, who replaces the headin'-back-to-Austin Larry Throm. Before he was up in Lewisville, King worked in upper management in the Goose Creek and Harlingen school districts. He also looks to be a golfer.

The announcement details some of his accomplishments elsewhere ("Successfully completed 32 school district budgets ranging from $40 million to $500 million") and says he starts January 18. It also reminds his salary has yet to be approved by the board of trustees. Says Dallas Independent School District Superintendent Michael Hinojosa, "Alan King has been a leader in Texas school finance for 33 years. His experience and accomplishments as a CFO in three Texas school districts during that period indicates that he will be an excellent successor to Larry Throm." You know who was born in Goose Creek? Gary Busey. Look it up.
