An hour ago, the Dallas Police Department sent word: Lee McLane, the East Dallas man who'd gone missing three days after his 77th birthday, has been found, and he's OK. But yet another Silver Alert has just been issued for a 79-year-old man who hasn't been seen since 5:45 yesterday. His name is Ruben Conner, who lives on Elm Valley Lane not far from S. Polk Street and W. Red Bird Lane. That is Conner at right.
According to DPD, Conner, who turns 80 in December, got into his car -- a gold, four-door 2000 Toyota Avalon -- Tuesday afternoon and drove away. He hasn't been since since. The Texas license plates are L45-MKR. Conner's 5-foot-9, weighs 140 pounds, and has been diagnosed with dementia and diabetes. Police ask that if you see Conner or the car, call Dallas Police Missing Person Detective Cunnigan at (214) 671-4268 or, if need be, 911.
Update at 9:10 a.m. Thursday: DPD spokesman Senior Corporal Kevin Janse sends word that Conner has been found: "Mr. Conner's daughter informed officers that he had driven himself to UT Southwestern Hospital last night for an unknown medical condition but would not say where he was all day yesterday. He is in good condition."
