You might have noticed that there was a marathon this weekend, and that two Cowboys were caught up in a deadly car accident before an emotional win on Sunday. You may also have heard that it snowed. There's probably a reason you didn't hear about the stuff below, culled from the weekend's Dallas PD police reports, but here it is anyways.
Friday, 1:45 p.m.: Homicide detectives showed up to a ditch at 9500 S. Central Expressway to investigate a human skull that was found there. More bones were found a short distance away. The skull and bones were weathered and showed no signs of trauma. The medical examiner is working to determine cause of death.
Saturday, 7:30 a.m.: Workers at the Mary Kay factory on Regal Row found a bag containing .6 g of weed.
Sunday, 1 a.m.: A 34-year-old homeless man was walking on the sidewalk along Garland Road just northwest of Buckner Boulevard when a large, tan dog began chasing him. A police officer saw the dog jump on him and bite his foot, causing his shoe to come off. The dog, who showed signs of disease, chewed on the shoe until animal control officers arrived. The man had open wounds on his foot but said they were already there.
Sunday, 12:03 p.m.: A 17-year-old girl was arguing with an unidentified male over money in front of a house in the 10500 block of Bruton Road. The man grabbed a hammer.
"You don't think I'll hit you," he said. "You don't think I'll do it," adding to the two witnesses that "I guess I'm gonna have to kill all of y'all."
He proceeded to hit the girl in the head with the hammer several times. He turned to hit one of the witnesses but missed, then chased him around the front yard before walking away. The girl was taken to the hospital with several bumps and a gash on her head. Police were unable to locate the man.
Sunday, 5:20 p.m.: Bryan Lepar, 24, walked up to the meat counter at the Lakewood Whole Foods and requested $60 worth of rib eye steaks. But when the butcher spotted Lepar walking around the store a few moments later, the steaks were nowhere to be seen. A loss prevention officer topped Lepar as he was attempting to leave and asked if he was concealing anything in the sweater jacket he had tied at the bottom, as if to keep something from falling out. Lepar refused to be searched but, during a pat down, the officer felt what turned out to be three packages of rib eye steaks. Lepar was taken to Dallas County jail.
Sunday, 8:42 p.m.: A gunman confronted a 31-year-old man at Casa Blanca apartments near Love Field and demanded money. He took the man's wallet, which contained $140, but also stole the man's jeans and the two boxes of fried chicken he was carrying.
