Bowling?

It's the events surrounding the race that actually make NASCAR more circus than sport. The fun kicks off tonight at 7, in fact, with the Sam Hornish Jr. Celebrity Bowling Tournament at Main Event in Grapevine.

The tournament, benefiting Speedway Charities, has drawn one of the most eclectic mixes of celebrity soup I've seen in a long time.

The event has raised $420,000 the last four years and this one should continue success.

Hosted by Hornish, the 2006 Indy 500 champ, and emceed by 105.3 The Fan's Sybil Summers, the tournament is scheduled to include former Dallas Cowboys Robert Newhouse, Preston Pearson and Billie Joe Dupree, NASCAR driver Kurt Busch, Channel 11 sports anchor Gina Miller, Dallas Mavericks' head coach Rick Carlisle, former Texas Rangers' pitcher Jose Guzman, former SMU basketball star Ira Terrell and SPEED Channel funny guy Rutledge Wood.

I'd pay the $20 just to see that group interact, but to watch them bowl? Priceless.
