We received this dashed-off media release at midnight: "Citizens Against the Taxpayer-Owned Hotel will be holding a press conference with officers and members of the organization present on Thursday, October 9, 2008." Takes place at 10 a.m. at City Hall, outside the City Secretary's Office. Wonder what it's for. Oh, that's right: Something to do with CATOH's turning in 60,000 signatures today (only needed 20,000), which, if verified (here we go again?), will trigger a May referendum on the city-owned convention center hotel -- though some council members, including Ron Natinsky, insist the project will go forward regardless. We're still wondering: How, exactly? --Robert Wilonsky
