Law.com reports this morning that Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia is co-authoring a book with Dallas' Bryan Garner, whose LawProse, Inc., is HQ'd on Sherry Lane. Garner's written some 20 books -- among them, The Elements of Legal Style, Black's Law Dictionary and, easily the most important of them all, The Rules of Golf in Plain English. And his latest one's titled The Winning Oral Argument, which, alas, isn't as sexy as I'd hoped.

But Garner's new book with Scalia appears to be the attorney must-have this holiday season -- or shortly after, as it's expected to be published next year. Making Your Case: The Art of Persuading Judges will deal with "the art of persuading judges, both orally and in written briefs," reports the legal-eagle Web site. Also, notes Law.com, "As Scalia is often viewed as the Court's best and most entertaining writer, his participation in the project is sure to invite comparison with a guidebook on ballet by Baryshnikov or on golf by Tiger Woods." Me, I'm going with this. --Robert Wilonsky
