Perhaps to get the jump on its Austin counterpart, which airs its Deep Ellum piece on Friday, KERA-FM (90.1) will, at noon today, air its own Deep Ellum roundtable. Think's Krys Boyd will host Alan Govenar, co-author of the book Deep Ellum and Central Track: Where the Black and White Worlds of Dallas Converged; Gianna Madrini, president of the Deep Ellum Association; and Mark Roberts, the co-owner of Pawn Gallery who posted to Unfair Park in February, "If there was any doubt why few businesses are currently in Deep Ellum, this answers it: Westdale and some of the big owners' only incentive is to leave it a ghost town."
Says the Think site: "As the singer says, 'if you go down to Deep Ellum, put your money in your shoe.' But the area is changing. How will Deep Ellum embrace the future while keeping an eye on its past?" Will these three have the answer to that long-debated question? Do tune in. --Robert Wilonsky
