I'm watching the Dallas Independent School District board of trustee meeting right now, if only to see how committed the trustees are to Commit! -- which, turns out, is a Mayor Mike initiative as much as a Dallas Regional Chamber idea. More to come in moments.
But first, this bit of breaking news: Right now, there is but a single Fair Day on the Dallas ISD's calendar: October 7. That's the first time the district scheduled a single day to send all its students to the State Fair of Texas. Also happens to be the Friday before Texas-OU at the Cotton Bowl. A potential clusterfudge.
The board was just told: Mayor Mike and the Dallas Police Department don't like that, not one bit. "Public safety concerns," the board was told as it was asked to divvy up the Fair Days. Sounds like that's the plan: October 7 will be for elementary students, while October 14 will be added to accommodate junior-high and high-school students. Adjust your calendars accordingly.
