Bill Holston, good Friend of Unfair Park, asks us this morning to make mention of tomorrow's memorial service for the Rev. Kathleen Baskin-Ball, whose battle with cancer was documented in The Dallas Morning News only a few days before her death on Tuesday. In both pieces, the 50-year-old Baskin-Ball was referred to as "beloved," a fact to which Bill testifies in his missive concerning his good friend:

I was on a nonprofit board with Kathleen, proyecto adelante, working with Central Americans seeking asylum here. I can picture her on the back of a tractor trailer preaching in Spanish to the Guatemalans marching through Downtown Dallas. For every thirty thousand dollar millionaire, there's someone like her. Her passing deserves a moment. I'm proud to have known her.
Notes her husband Bill on Baskin-Ball's MySpace page, on the Sunday before her death his wife "held and baptized 37 of God's beautiful children, youth, and adults on Sunday afternoon." Services for the Carrollton native and SMU Perkins School of Theology graduate -- and mother of a 4-year-old son -- will take place tomorrow at First United Methodist Church of Richardson at 3 p.m. --Robert Wilonsky
