Midlothian Police Release More Video in Church Killing

Midlothian police, it seems, are not really any closer to finding out who killed Missy Bevers, the Camp Gladiator instructor found dead inside Creekside Church of Christ just after 5 a.m. Monday. Friday afternoon, for the third time, they released additional footage of the person they believe is Bevers' killer, vandalizing and waddling around the church in the time between the assailant's first appearance on camera at around 3:50 a.m. and Bevers' first appearance at 4:18. "We really do believe that somebody still knows that this person is out there, that somebody knows who this person is and they haven't yet come forward," Midlothian Assistant Police Chief Kevin Johnson said. "We ask the public to analyze the footage once again, watch the mannerisms and the walking style of the suspect, and if they have any information please contact us."

Johnson refused to comment on Bevers' cause of death, revealed in a search warrant publicly released Thursday to be a blow to the head, but did acknowledge that several tools — used to get into the church and in the vandalism — were found at the church. The department still doesn't know whether the person who attacked Bevers was a man or a woman, he said. Midlothian police still have no clues about why Bevers was killed, but her sister-in-law Kristi Stout told NBC's Dateline that she believes Bevers might have been targeted.

“When I think and think about this I could see maybe how a woman could be jealous of Missy,” she said.

Brandon Bevers, Missy's husband, was out of town on a fishing trip at the time of the murder, but said Tuesday he doesn't believe he was wife was targeted. According to police, he's cooperated fully.

The Texas Rangers and ATF are assisting Midlothian police with the investigation. FBI agents were also seen at MPD headquarters Thursday, according to media reports.
