'Round this very moment exactly one week ago today we were all preparing to duck and cover beneath Kirstie Alley as hailstones the size of calf fries began forming in the skies above North Texas. Turns out, the weather was even worse than we thought the morning after.
This afternoon, the National Weather Service's Fort Worth office sent out this note, which says that after doing a little more post-storm surveying over the weekend they've discovered a grand total of 10 twisters touched down last week, with additional damage having been discovered in Parker and Tarrant Counties. Both tornadoes have been classified EF-0, which means winds were somewhere between 65 and 85 miles per hour for at least three sustained seconds.
The NWS has a complete Top 10 now, with the strongest storm still the EF-2 in Denton. Says the wrap-up: "This also increases the number of confirmed tornadoes for 2011 to 39."
