Speaking of Your Texas Rangers ...
Just checked the e-mail this glorious baseball-season-y Sunday afternoon to find a missive from John Blake, exec veep of communications for the ball club, who sends word that Roger Staubach's throwing out the ceremonial first pitch at the Rangers' 1:05 p.m. home opener against the Blue Jays on April 5. Former Cowboys who beat him to the pitch: Tom Landry, Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith and Michael Irvin. Hard to believe Captain America hasn't already done it.
Of course, you can guess the reason why now: In the words of team president and co-owner-to-be Nolan Ryan, "We feel that Roger Staubach is a very appropriate choice for this year's first pitch. This gives us the opportunity to salute his efforts in bringing Super Bowl XLV to Arlington."
So when does Jerry get his shot as starter?
